I don’t want to be a total douche, but can I just say that I think I’m pretty good at picking up fencing moves and remembering them. But one thing I need to work on is intending to kill my opponent. Which, I have to confess, I have not been doing. One of the older students in the class watched me a bit and said that I needed to focus all my intention on the point of my sword going into the heart of my opponent. “You’re just placing it there,” the experienced student observed. Now that is hard. I guess it makes me uncomfortable to even pretend that I want to jab my classmate in the heart. Maybe I need to imagine that I’m actually killing someone else, like a fictional person. And then cut and paste that intention onto the real person that I’m actually fighting.
Shit, this is going to end up being just like Black Swan, I know it.
